Creating a new tile

There are two main ways to create a new tile:

  1. Click on the 'Create A Tile' tile within My Tiles section of Huler; or
  2. Click on the + symbol on the task bar at the bottom of the screen.

This will then open the following window:

You must input a title and url in the respective boxes in order to continue. You cannot proceed beyond this point without it.

  • The title can be a maximum of 20 characters.
  • You must have a valid url i.e. www.huler.io

Tip - if you have the site address open that you want to link to, you can drag the web url from that page directly into the 'Add a URL' section. Try it.

We don’t like anything to be boring at Huler, so at this stage you can either upload an image or select a colour that you want this tile to be.

Personalising your tile

There are two main ways in which you can personalise your tile and make them your own:

  1. Selecting a colour
  2. Uploading an image

We will now take you through each one in turn.

Selecting A Colour

Press the Select a Colour button at the bottom of the page and the following screen will appear:

Choosing a colour is easy! Simply move the colour slider (located on the right-hand side of the tile shown above) and click within the box to select your desired colour. You can use the white circle for precision to get the exact colour you are looking for.

If you know the specific HEX reference for a colour, you can also input that in to the text box below the colour slider for an exact match.

Uploading An Image

Press the Image Icon button in the centre of the grey box and the following screen will appear:

Removing The Image

If you decide that you do not wish to use that image, it is easy to remove it.

Once you are in the edit function and in the image upload section, you will see an option underneath the picture to 'Remove Image'.

Clicking on this will remove the image and return it to its original state.

Once you have uploaded an image you have further options within this screen:

Cropping An Image

If you click the Adjust Crop button, the following page appears:

From here you can:

  • Move the grid with your mouse to get the area of your image you want;
  • Change the grid shape from a square to a rectangle if you prefer that shape
  • Zoom in and out using the scroll wheel or track pad on your device.

Once you are finished, press the Finish Cropping button.

Shaping An Image

You can change the shape of your image so that it fills the tile as a square, or sits in the middle of the tile as a banner. These are the two options shown under the Adjust Crop button.

Colouring The Title

The title for your tile will show in white, in the bottom left hand corner of the tile. If you have chosen a light colour or a light coloured image, this may not show, so you can use the toggle button below to switch the text colour to black.

Styling Your Tile

Finally, you can use some of the colour filters built into Huler to style your tile by pressing the Stylize button. This will then open the following screen:

You can scroll down the menu on the right and play around with different filter types, like you would do on your mobile camera. Go on, have a go. We have chosen a sunshine filter above.

Adding A GIF Image

Why have an image when you can upload a funny GIF?

To do this, follow the same steps and upload in the same way as you did with a static image.

Once complete, you can press done and you've made your tile.

Congratulations! You've made your first tile. At any point you can go back by pressing the Revert changes button.

Editing an existing tile

To edit an existing tile, click the top left corner of the tile, as highlighted below:

This will then open the following menu:

You have three options here (in the order shown above):

  1. Add the tile to your library (Understanding Huler Libraries).
  2. Edit the tile - this takes you back to the create tile section above as if you were doing it from new. Just change the bits you like and then hit Update.
  3. Delete the tile. Note, once deleted, you can't get it back, but Huler will ask you to check.
